Overview

Situated in the southwestern region of India, Kerala boasts a rich past influenced by early settlers and seafarers from civilizations such as the Greeks, Romans, and Arabs. Initially governed by the Chera dynasty, the region later experienced the impact of Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonization. Under British rule, it was incorporated into the Madras Presidency. Following India’s independence, the princely states of Travancore and Cochin united in 1949, and in 1956, Kerala was officially formed by integrating Malayalam-speaking territories. Renowned for its scenic landscapes and vibrant cultural legacy, Kerala remains a symbol of development and diversity.
